Health is an important part of our lives. Health is wealth, as the popular saying goes. Our everyday actions, routine and the food we eat affect our health and our overall wellbeing. As it turns out, the world that we live in today and the lifestyle we often choose are not as healthy as we think they are. Pollution, lack of physical activity, unhealthy diet and food choice are only a few of the threats to our health. If you want to stay healthy and live longer, follow these 7 tips in your life.

1. Drink and eat healthy

First and foremost, what we eat and drink goes directly to our body, our cells, tissues, organs and systems. What we ingest in our body has a direct effect on our overall health. Junk food and other unhealthy food choices may seem too tasty to pass, but you should also consider its effects to your health. Always choose healthy meals such as fruits and vegetables. They are just as tasty. Try to choose organic and/or local harvest produce when possible.

2. Keep yourself physically active

Maintaining a physically fit body is another way to have a healthy life. Being physically active is the easiest way to keep your body fit. You can work out, go to the gym, play sports or have a regular cardio routine. Also, rowing machines for weight loss are helpful. Staying active will help you maintain the body weight and shape you desire.

3. Better sleeping habits

Sleep is a vital part of living. Some of us may be too busy that we do not get enough sleep at night and just fill our bodies with caffeine every day. This is an unhealthy habit. Be sure to get enough sleep to keep your body and brain active.

4. Drink enough water

Water is a basic necessity for survival, as well as maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The recommended daily intake is eight glasses, but if you can drink more, that would be better. Water keeps the body hydrated to prevent diseases and to keep the skin fresh and healthy.

5. Meditation

Of course, a healthy lifestyle involves peace of mind as well. Our mind and thoughts play a big role on our overall outlook in life, which in turn also affects our physical health. It is all interconnected. Add a moment of meditation to your routine. You can use the time to clear your mind and relax for a bit. This is one good way to refresh the mind and body to keep the mind active.

6. Stay away from stress

Stress causes many types of diseases and physical inability. When we stress out, our mind is generally affected to the point where our physical aspects also deteriorate. What you should remember is that stress is something you can avoid and control. Stay away from things, people or situations that stress you out. If it is unavoidable, address and resolve it immediately to avoid the nagging feeling in your mind.

7. Be smoke-free & avoid alcohol

Cigarette smoking and drinking alcohol is top two of the things you should avoid if you want to have a healthy body and mind. These two, although may seem like common things nowadays, have a major impact on your health especially if you do them regularly.

Our lifestyle choices affect our health and how long we live on this world. Although there are plenty of indulgences and unhealthy things that we can enjoy, the effects will, later on, show us that it really is important to take good care of ourselves.
